At the University of Maryland School of Public Health, we are driven by a passion to break down the barriers that keep individuals, families, communities and populations from attaining optimum health and wellness. With more than 2700 students across bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs, we are proud of our racial and ethnic diversity (more than half are students of color) and of our commitment to supporting student success through innovative professional development programs (more than 25% of undergraduates are first generation college students) that advance healthy equity and justice.

As a growing school at one of the nation’s leading research universities, we are well-positioned to advance and translate public health knowledge to improve the health and well-being of the diverse populations of Maryland and beyond.

Among our signature programs, we are home to the nationally recognized Maryland Center for Health Equity, Horowitz Center for Health Literacy, Center for Community Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health and the UMD Prevention Research Center, which is dedicated to improving mental health among LGBTQ+ communities.
