Our school resides on Galveston Island, Texas and focuses on Health Equity for All through community-first intensive in-person training. The school is home to multiple PhD programs including Population Health Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Bioethics along with a robust MPH program with tracks in Practice, Bioethics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics and a combined MD/MPH degree. The research and training areas of SPPH focus on health equity, Hispanic health and aging, health services research, community well-being and resilience, global health, and bioethics. In addition to our invaluable relationships with our community-based partners, the SPPH has research and training linkages to NASA, through our aerospace medicine program, opportunities to study infectious and emerging diseases through the Galveston National Laboratory, a high security National Biocontainment Laboratory, and participation in climate resilience, a community level response to climate change. Serving Galveston, Texas, and the Gulf Coast, our mission is leading innovative public health education, translational research, and evidence-informed practice and policy through authentic collaborations in the Gulf Coast region, Texas, and the world.
