John grew up in Western Pennsylvania and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he studied business administration. He moved to the Washington, DC, area 30 years ago and has since worked in a variety of business settings, initially in data entry posts and later in clerical and administrative positions. The latter included an 8-year stint as administrative assistant for the American Society for Public Administration, an organization that includes accreditation of professional schools as one of its major responsibilities. John assumed duties as administrative assistant for CEPH in September 1995, and was promoted to office manager in January 2000.

In this role, John is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the office, located in downtown Silver Spring. He maintains up-to-date lists of accredited schools and programs and responds to requests from the public for general information about accreditation and CEPH-accredited schools and programs. He manages financial tasks associated with sending invoices for CEPH services, reimbursing travel expenses for authorized CEPH representatives, verifying and paying bills, and maintaining financial records. He is responsible for agency files and for providing logistical and planning support for CEPH board meetings, which occur 3 times a year in different locations around the country.
