Proposed revisions to Accreditation Procedures

At its November 19-20, 2020 meeting, the Council on Education for Public Health agreed to release a set of revised Accreditation Procedures for public comment.

The most recent, previous procedures revision (adopted in 2018) was quite substantive; therefore, this revision seeks to further clarify areas based on consistent interpretation by the Council, to better reflect current practices, and to align with current federal regulations that became effective July 1, 2020. Some areas were substantially rewritten for clarity, without altering substantive requirements.

Highlights of the draft revisions are as follow:

2) Updates to reflect 2018 Bylaws and clarify existing practices and interpretation, e.g., position titles within the Executive Committee, process of adding materials to Council and Executive Committee agendas, possible outcomes following a complaint, organizational structure for accredited units

All comments must be emailed to submissions@ceph.org by February 2, 2021 with the subject line “Accreditation Procedures” and must be submitted using this form.

Next steps:

At its winter meeting on March 7-8, 2021, the Council will consider the comments received and adopt an updated Accreditation Procedures document. The revised document will be available on the CEPH website with 30 days of the meeting’s completion.
