SUNY Downstate-SPH

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, located in Brooklyn, New York, serves over 2.3 million residents. The School of Public Health (SPH), founded in 2001 initially as a program and then a fully accredited school in 2010, has a unique focus on urban, immigrant and global health. The SPH offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in six disciplines (Community Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Policy and Management, Healthcare Administration) and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree in three disciplines (Community Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health). In the Fall of 2023, the SPH launched a new “Equity-Focused” Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. We are proud of the strong relationships that we have fostered with non-profits institutions such as the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health and the Brooklyn Health Disparities Center, both of which address health inequities through community outreach and education.
