Since 1941, the LSUHSC School of Public Health, uniquely located in New Orleans, has grown in size and importance through its three pillar missions of education, research and service. The school offers both professional and academic degrees and is focused on improving the public’s heath through high quality public health education, innovative high-impact research and community service.
With a mission to advance the public's health and well-being, the school maintains strong ties to public health practice within the local community and the public health field at large. The school is focused on enhancing research related to cancer epidemiology, tobacco and alcohol use, obesity, healthcare policy, the health effects of the DWH Gulf Oil Spill and other areas of particular importance to the state and gulf coast. Such research and service programs offer rich opportunities for student training and experiences that are grounded in collaboration.
